College Mental Health Program

After working with our version of “developing a more positive ‘inner’ relationship with Self" for over 35 years with countless therapists, small and large groups, individuals and families, culminating in a clinical trial at Danbury Hospital using physicians, nurses, and residents, the results of which were presented to both the American Medical Association and the American Psychological Association (well received by both), we concluded that the best way to reach the public, as well as give therapists a truly useful mental health tool so their patients can progress between sessions, was to develop a course,  delivered by a mobile phone.

Over 100 academicians, therapists, teachers, etc. worked on content and structure, along with designers, wireframers, coders, voiceover actors, etc. All participated on a volunteer basis for over 5 years. In ‘22 we began a period of BETA testing with the public and students from schools that included university psychology departments like Yeshiva, Baruch, Adelphi, Hofstra, Smith and so forth.

While we are beginning to invite small groups of users, we are also reaching out to universities to collaborate with us on a pilot program that involves their student body, their mental health providers, as well as their administrative personnel.

We are looking for small groups of App users who are on mental health waiting lists, a small group who are under treatment, and a small control group who are neither. We are going to use scales like the Neff Self-Compassion Scale, as well as school grades, and other self-reports to monitor the wellness of each group.

If interested in hearing more about this program, and to schedule a virtual meeting please reach out to Dr. Karen Wall, EdD, LMFT and Psychiatric Nurse and Major in the US Military.
